Stan Straley is a self-taught watercolor artist that has lived in the Lake Minnetonka, Minnesota area for fifty five years. The subjects of his paintings depict scenes from Lake Minnetonka’s history, the 1880s through the 1960s. Stan also spends winter months in Englewood Florida and is a member of the Englewood Art Center. He has another series of paintings of Old Florida, set in the 1890s through the 1960s. Most of his paintings are of subjects that are close to the water, steamboats, fishing, sailing, the old resorts and hotels, trains and other forms of transportation. His work can be viewed on this website and is on display and for sale at the Gallery Navarre near his home in Navarre, Minnesota.
